Andrew Cuomo was sworn in as governor of New York on January 1, 2011. Prior to becoming governor, Cuomo served as the attorney general for New York. He previously served as secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, after serving as the departments assistant secretary of community planning and development.
